i had my wisdom teeth extracted on thursday, all four. they seem to be healing somewhat. unfortnetly my entire chin, bottom lip, and bottom gum line are still numb. my surgeon didn't explain anything to me, i wound up looking up everything on my own. to top it off my bottom front teeth feel like they are being pushed together for two and a half straight days now. that or it's the feeling of having something incredibly large stuck in your teeth. i can't open my jaw and move it to the right too much because my right bottom front tooth feels like something horrible will happen if i attempt it. my parents think i'm complaining too much. i can't get to the dentist again until this Thursday. and my painkillers don't even work anymore! I need some help, relief, answers, and a punching bag. Just tell me what you think the problem is. Thank you.
Wisdom tooth extraction problems?
I'm sorry i can't help but i need to get mine out and now i'm afraid
Reply:It sounds normal, or what happened to me, take some Advil, you need an anti-inflammatory to help more then pain meds.
Reply:That is not normal. You shouldn't still be wierdly numb like that this many days after. If you teeth were impacted when they extracted them, it was harder to get them out and might cause you some extra pain for some time after, but it's really wierd that you still feel somewhat numb and that your front teeth are hurting. I would get back to the dentist asap. I don't think your complaining at all, because that is not a normal side effect of a routine extraction!
Reply:sounds to me like your dentist/oral surgeon sliced a nerve hence his lack of a response? Get a second opinion
p.s. a bit of advice...if your wisdom teeth aren't causing you any problems, do NOT have them removed. It is just that much more chewing surface
Reply:Infection may be reason. Pl. see dentist. Now you may apply MUCOPAIN. root canal treatment is good than removal
Reply:I had my 4 wisdom teeth out last year and the swelling went down within a day.
Although I had quite a bit of pain still for the following few days, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as yours sounds.
The only real problem I had was where they stitched one of the gums together, they had stitched too high up my cheek and it felt like it was consistently pulling on a nerve. Once I cut the stitch away, it was fine.
Good luck. I think you should at the very least phone your dentist and seek advice from them.
Reply:in some cases during the surgery the surgeon might have hit the nerve that can cause prolong numbness. this is not uncommon. the wisdom teeth on the bottom are normally close to a big nerve running from the jaw towards the chin. if one of them are cut, you will lose sensation on that side of your lip or jaw. it will take about 6 months or more before you can feel anything on that side...yes it will take awhile. if you ask for a copy of the consent form which you signed before the surgery
you can read all what I'm talking about here. if they did not let you signed or you parents one they can be liable for what happened.
