Wisdom tooth extraction - when does the danger of dry socket pass?

I got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning. I've been very careful with taking care of them so as not to get a dry socket because my bottom extractions were very traumatic.

At this point, is it safe to say that if I don't have a dry socket yet, I won't get one, even if I start spitting or drinking diet soda?

Wisdom tooth extraction - when does the danger of dry socket pass?
I got my lower wisdom teeth removed this morning. I have been reading the post-operative care and it states that you want to refrain from spitting because it may dislodge the blood clot that needs to form in order to not got get a dry socket. You will know if you developed a dry socket, because you will begin feeling an intense pain where the the tooth was removed and it will not be consistent with the pain that you felt immediately after the extraction. So, it is advisable that you wait at least 4-5 days before spitting, drinking carbonated drinks and smoking ( if you are a smoker). Also if you had a traumatic extraction ( bony impaction) than you should be extra careful, as you are more likely to develop dry sockets.

I hope this helps and that you have a speedy recovery :)
Reply:Ask your Dentist to be sure but I'd give it a couple of days. At least Sun or Mon.
Reply:I got mine removed yesterday, too.

They told me after about five days, I can start rinsing out the sockets, so I would say after five days.

Any sooner, and you could risk getting dry socket.

Best of luck.
