Wisdom tooth extraction?

What is the aftermath of a surgery of the wisdom tooth? How long does it take for it to heal? Does it hurt after the surgery?

I am four taking out in soon. I am very nervous because I had never been put on anesthesia or gone through any types of surgery before.

I was nervous too. The whole thing takes about 1/2 hour so the anesthesia they give you is very light. So you shouldn't worry too much other than finding someone to take you to your appointment and brign you home and hang out with you until you sleep it off. You will sleep a lot the first day. They will give a you prescription for pain meds and really after a day or two, tylenol will work. You won't want solid food the first day and you'll be eating soft food for a few days after, but after the sututures come out after about a week, you'll be back in business. It was easier than I thought it would be. I had all 4 at once too.
Reply:I had 3 taken out 20 yrs ago and it 's not so bad. your mouth will be packed with gauze and you'll be groggy but your mouth is one of the fastest healing part on your body.
Reply:I got four of my wisdom teeth pulled out and it took three weeks for me to heal. Depending on how many teeth, it could take a week or longer. In addition to that, it does hurt but if you have pain killers you will be fine.

My advice is do not be nervous, everything will be ok and make sure they put you to sleep because I have heard stories of people not being sleep and feeling the pain...you get the idea. Also, get alot of ice packs to minimize swelling and soup because you will not be able to chew anything.

Good Luck!
