Could my headaches be caused by wisdom tooth extraction and/or dry socket?

I had my four wisdom teeth extracted five days ago. The day after, I had very little pain. The following two days, however, my pain level was very high. I had followed all instructions (no using a straw, eating only soft foods, etc.) I went the oral surgeon's office yesterday and they diagnosed me as having dry socket. They packed it and the pain was pretty well relieved. However; for three days I have had horrible headaches. Is this common side effect of wisdom tooth extractions? Of dry socket? Both? Thanks!

Could my headaches be caused by wisdom tooth extraction and/or dry socket?
Yes, headaches can occur from wisdom tooth extractions. When I had mine removed I had headaches, but they weren't to severe. However, your pain level was probably high because of the dry socket. Dry socket is when the blood clot that formed when your wisdom teeth were extracted, falls out. The blood clot allows your tissue to heal. Without the clot, your bone can be exposed to the oral cavity and anything you put in it. This is supposed to be a really strong pain.
