Are there any health benefits associated with wisdom tooth extraction?

i feel pressure on either side of my jaw. my wisdom teeth have not fully come through as my mouth is crowded. i read that certain symptoms can be relieved through wisdom tooth extraction. what feeling in my jaw can i expect after extraction?

Are there any health benefits associated with wisdom tooth extraction?
If you're under 30, get it done now. I'm 41 and only just had mine removed in Germany. Dentist here told me that they should have been extracted when I was in my twenties when the teeth and surrounding bone are much softer and easier to remove. But thanks to our British government at that time trying to save money, they told dentists not to take wisdom teeth out! Result.... the most painful experience I've ever had! Seems your really too old at 40+ for this, very risky ( one reason why they wont use a general anaesthetic) and the teeth have become very hard, which makes them brittle and they break into pieces when they try to pull them so lots of drilling into your jaw etc. Took about an hour a tooth! But, after effects not too bad, you look like a hamster for up to a week but the swelling goes down quite quickly ( use plenty of ice packs) As someone else pointed out, it's being left with the holes in your face that make it difficult to eat without getting stuff in them. So, get it done, sooner rather than later, it's much better than the constant aching in your jaw and skull and facing something like medieval torture a few years down the line. Best of luck!
Reply:I had one removed - it had no effect on sensation.

It's just there's an annoying hole for a couple of years, which food (e.g. bread) gets stuck in!
Reply:Pain, followed by numbness, due to all the great pills you'll get.
Reply:i had all 4 ov my wisdom teeth out a few months ago,i was put to sleep 4 it and when i woke up i couldnt talk or eat 4 a while but after an hour i was well enough to leave hospital and i would do it again in a flash if i had to as now im not in no pain wot so ever
Reply:I had two wisdom teeth removed when I was in my early twenties for the same reason. I looked like a hamster for a while after, but it was a good move.
Reply:besides relieving the pressure you feel your teeth will now be free to grow less crowded and not so prone to cavaties inbetween them,, straighter more even teeth for better health, eating and smiling,,, wisdom teeth are like the appendix,,, not sure what the function was but can do with out,,,good luck
Reply:relief usualy followa extraction......i just had tooth out and once its dun you feel more relaxed.gum will feel squigy and yuk but try leave it alone.best to just chiil out relax and take some paracetamol.good luk
Reply:I have been extracted my wisdom tooth on my left which causing the pain all the time and my wisdom doesn't show up but is inside my gum only x-ray able to appear... Well after the extraction and the numbness goes off i really feel discomfort but my Dr advice to take ice-cream or ice pack to place on my cheek to reduce the pain plus with medication as well...

The swollen subside in 1 weeks time..
