okay i went to the dentist yesterday to get my back bottom tooth extracted the only problem is, good god!!!! That hurt like hell, the guy numb up my left side but it was mostly my cheek, so he pulls this thing that looked like a screw driver out and says does this hurt. I tell him no then he pokes another spot and puts pressure and i yell out ****!!
So he pokes my gums and waits 2 mins but my damn tooth is still in pain, so i grab on the arm rest and i told him don't stop till it's out and god it took him like 2 mins to pull the damn thing out. They throw some water on it and have me bite down on piece of gauze
Thats it, my question is I thought you arent suppose to feel anything when they numb it, did i have a crappy dentist?
I was bleeding alot and i used up all those pieces of gauze they gave me so i said forget it after like 7 hours after extraction and started swallowing, it is now sunday and it doesn't look like it's bleeding anymore though i still have this crappy taste
Painful tooth extraction?
I don't know If I can answer your question easily... The best source on all things to do with oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as specialist dentistry, is to go to http://dentalimplantsaustralia.com . This site has all the best information on wisdom teeth, orthodontics, implant dentistry, as well as things to do with oral medicine, oral pathology, jaw correction surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, mucosal diseases, tumours, cysts, and reconstruction surgery. There are also other parts on post-operative care, medications, material types, as well as explanations on Medicare. It is an Australian site, but I highly recommend it for everyone.
Good luck with finding out what you are looking for!
Reply:You probably had a nerve that was exposed already due to the deterioration of your tooth. They should have given you pain meds, unless you are a recovering addict
Reply:when freezing the bottom there are two places that they freeze, one is easy to hit, thats the one that does your cheek and the gums by your molars, the other is harder to hit and thats the one that gets the tongue, lip and teeth. Sounds like he got the one that does the cheek (long buccal nerve) but missed the one that does the teeth (inferior alveolar nerve). It happens about 15% of the time on average and if you had not told him to just do it he would have given you more freezing.
