is there any truth in what others are saying about tooth extraction being bad for pregnant women?

Is tooth extraction bad for pregnant women?
No. An extraction is not necessarily bad for a pregnant woman.


However, there are precautions to take.


The dentist will have to take an x-ray of the tooth to see the shape and decay. (Unless he has an x-ray in your file that was taken recently) If an an x-ray is taken, make sure they put two lead aprons on you. It is just an extra precaution for the baby.


Also, it's always a good idea to call your ob/gyn ahead of time and have them fax to the dentist what pain meds. and such you are able to take. Sometimes this varies upon your trimester. Your OB can fax it to the dentist (get the # for them).

Reply:No. If she needs to be put under anastectic, then the dentist MUST know that she is pregnant, however if it is just a local going in, no problems
