I'm kind of scared to be put to sleep with the anesthesia, so I thought about just getting the numb serum instead. Will it be strong enough to block out all pain during the procedure, or would the pain still be felt? If it will be felt, is it a mild, moderate, or severe?
Another question I have, is it possible to get 1 or more wisdom teeth pulled during the first appointment with the oral surgeon or would the first appointment only entail evaluation and the actual extraction take place on the second?
If only half of my wisdom tooth is exposed, how long should I expect the extraction process to take?
Will I feel any pain during a wisdom tooth extraction if numb serum is injected?
My experience was that the pain was worse after the anesthesia wore off, I didn't have any pain during the procedure. I had an appt. first to discuss the procedure , then had 2 teeth removed during the surgery. (The other 2 are still OK.) Be prepared to not be able to eat much for a few days, I had a lot of popsicles and soft foods. Soup would probably be OK too, just make sure it's not too hot. They will give you instructions to follow. If you don't want the general anesthetic, ask your surgeon what he/she would suggest. If they feel the serum will numb the pain enough, go with that. Every person is different re: the length of time it takes. Again, ask your surgeon. Best wishes.
Reply:About the numb serum...
Based on experience, I felt no pain at all during the tooth extraction with the injected numb serum. The pain occurred during the injection of the numb serum, but don't worry, it's bearable. I was about 13 years old at that time, so I think you could bear the pain much easier if you're older than me at that time.. Goodluck anyway. :)
You said only half of your wisdom tooth is exposed. Well, how long that would take, I don't know. But I had one molar that cracked into two and my dentist said I had to undergo some sort of surgery. But then I went to another dentist and he said that it's not necessary, so I guess I'm about as clueless as you. Ask your dentist about it.
Reply:my husband was just numb and he said the dentist was just about on his chest he had to pull so hard and just had one pulled I went with the anesthesia and had all four pulled it doesn't hurt till it wears and if you don't get dry sockets it shouldn't be that bad I did get dry sockets and it is the worst tooth pain you can have no straws no smocking no and nothing hot for a while I'm sure the dentist will tell you all about it
Reply:well, i would get ameshtiesea, b/c u would get no pain at all, but w/ numbing stuff, ud get severe pain during the procedure...
Reply:You won't feel any pain during the extraction. The first appointment is usually just evaluation.
