Pain 3 days after tooth extraction?

I know pain is normal for like a week after a tooth extraction. I had 3 teeth extracted about 3 days ago. The side where I had one tooth pulled is fine, the side where I had 2 teeth pulled is really sensitive. My face feels very sensitive to the touch and the pain is going all the way up into my ear. Is this normal?

Pain 3 days after tooth extraction?
its quite normal to experience post operative pain after extractions , However it is advisable that you follow up with your dentist so that you wouldnt be havin a condition called dry socket which is extremely painful .. anyhow ,... it is imperative that you stick to the instructions that were given to you after the multiple extractions ... rinse with warm salty water ...and avoid irritating the clot , dont smoke .... and if you dont get well within two days , u should get an appointment asap .. hope u get better
Reply:sounds like you may have a dry socket..where you lose the clot that is needed to heal..it is quite painful and you need to return to the dentist for treatment.
Reply:Hello, Yes, to some degree a certain amount of discomfort is normal...The extent of the discomfort is usually related to two issues,(1)..how difficult the extractions were, and (2) how much infection was present....Your DDS should have given you an Rx for an Antibiotic and another for pain control...You should have also been instructed not to use hot packs but rather "cold" packs on your cheeks over the extraction sites...you should have been instructed not to smoke, or drink through straw or from a pop can or bottle. Doing any of those could dislodge a blood clot from an extraction site and cause a dry socket. You can improve your healing time by doing two things, (1)..rinse your mouth gently three to four times a day with a 10% salt to water mix. (2)..take a really good daily vitamin that contains A%26lt;E%26lt;C%26lt;B%26lt;D and Zinc....If the ear pain isn't gone within another 24 hours, you need to see the doctor ASAP. Good luck and I wish you well.
