Do I eat food when I have guage on my tooth after an extraction?

Stupid question I know

But I had a tooth extraction today on the back tooth next to the wisdom tooth and I'm unsure if I eat with the gauge in, or do I take it out?

you can go ahead and take the gauze out. the only time you need to put it in is if the empty space starts to bleed again. mashed potatoes with gravy, jello, pudding and some soft macaroni are great to eat. tomorrow be sure to start gargling with warm salt water to help the hole close up. do that 2-3 times a day.
Reply:out

if it's still bleeding

you need to protect the site

change the gauze after you've eaten
Reply:As long as the spot is not longer bleeding, carefully take it out. Stick with soft foods for the next few days.
Reply:I don't think your suppose to eat it leads to infections. I think you're better of drink chamomille tea
Reply:maybe out..

go see a denist..
Reply:Take the gauze out for eating, stay on soft, cold foods for the 1st day (milkshakes-no straws-, applesauce, pudding, etc), then replace the gauze after you eat as long as you're still bleeding. Most people have some oozing for at least 6 hours.
Reply:I'd wait until the site has stopped bleeding so that you don't need the gauze in your mouth when you try to eat. That was what I did. And definitely stick with eating really mushy liquidy stuff.
