Tooth extraction, bleeding.....anxiety???

I am having a tooth extracted this week and the procedure itself doesn't scare me. It's the bleeding. I have a hard time with blood and not good with things like that. Will I bleed a lot during the extraction? Will I be completely freaked out the first day or two about the blood? Will I bleed when I sleep the first night? How bad will the bleeding be? Thank you

Tooth extraction, bleeding.....anxiety???
Everys different...I bleed a lot and some of it did drip onto my pillow at night...But by the second day it hardly bleed at all...however my with my friend his bleed at little for a couple hours and that was it...he fine and went to school on the same day....so yeah everyone is different
Reply:I have had so many teeth pulled. It is best if you have someone take care of you because you must use the gauze which will have blood on it and i am not personally disgusted with blood but someone who is i think would have a problem with the gauze. So hopefully if you have someone to help u, then you wont have to see any of the gauze so they can change it for you. If you don't then make sure you still change your gauze, you could change it more often so it doesn't get so much blood on it when you take it out.

good luck and don't stress.
Reply:You really aren't going to have too much bleeding. Most of it wll be at the dentist office. It starts clotting pretty fast. They will give you after care instructions. Just follow their directions and you won't have any problems. I remember occasionally tasting some blood in my mouth, and maybe a very small amount may be expelled when you rinse your mouth, but you won't like leak while you sleep or anything. Just relax, it isn't a bad procedure at all. Best of luck to you!
Reply:When I had two teeth pulled I don't think I bleed much at all compared to what I was expecting the Dr used like two or three cotton balls and sent me on my way with a fresh one. When I took it out a couple hrs later it was a little red but the bleeding had stopped. The most frustrating thing was chewing. I was ok at first like soup lah dee dah, OK yogurt and pudding lah dee dah .. but after a week I was so damn angry I threw forks down on my plate in anguish. I wanted meat and crunchy stuff ahh and it hurt a lot when a piece of food hit one (I had one pulled on each side I was screwed.
Reply:Normally, the blood clotting after dental extraction is not a problem under normal conditions. Just let the dentist know if you taking some blood- thinning drugs or if you have some problem with the functioning of your liver. Then the dentist take necessary precautions. If everything is fine, just dont worry and go ahead. The single most important precaution aftet the dental extracation is not spitting even once whole day on the day of extraction. Secondly, the gauze that the dentist puts at the extraction site should stay in place for about 45 minutes or so. And please take only cold things for eating and that too which are liquid or semi-solid. Just chill, dont worry !!
