Pain after tooth extraction?

I had my tooth extracted 6 days ago (after 1 year of constant pain and numerous attempts at root canal treatments) it still aches. the blood clot has formed properly and i do not have a dry socket, it is cleaned with warm salt water 3 times a day and there is no infection. it was a difficult extraction, it cracked in half etc and it was a back molar tooth.

how long should this pain last? its more of an annoying droning ache, than an excruciating pain.

Pain after tooth extraction?
It might ache a bit for another week or so. Nothing that you shouldn't be able to fix with an Aleve or Tylenol.

I went through something similar years ago. The roots were wrapped around my jaw bone... it was nasty.

I was really uncomfortable for a week and sore for a couple.

Try to focus on something else, it will all be a distant memory soon.

Good luck to you and fast healing!
Reply:Mine lasted about 2 weeks and my face swelled up.
Reply:When i had a wisdom tooth removed i was told if i had any pain i was to take ibuprofen any pain i had only lasted a week at most
Reply:I had my tooth filled earlier this year - it wasn't aching but a piece had chipped off - It gave me pain for about 3 weeks afterwards - must have set the nerves jangling!! - I just took paracetamol and it gradually settled down.
Reply:could be that the area is still bruised, my wisdom tooth split in half during an extraction it was not a pleasent experience i was in agony for a few days then the pain wore off after that to a dull ache which lasted around 2-3 wks. went bk to see the dentist as i thought something wasnt right but all was ok my gum tissue was just still bruised and was advised to take ibuprofen if a could handle the pain and everything was ok after that.

but if u r worried ring ur dentist to get some advice
Reply:I had a wisdom tooth extracted and the pain lasted for over a week. Gradually getting easier as the days went by. I was taking pain killers for some time afterwards if I remember correctly. If your concerned, I guess visit the Dentist to get it checked. But you sound pretty much switched on to what is happening. I am sure it is fine.
Reply:week for me after tooth out, painkillers helped
Reply:Have you checked with your dentist as to if it is infected?

if it only a dull ache I shouldn't imagine it is but worth looking at if it goes worse or lasts much longer, think it is possibly bruising or from your jaw after having it wrestled out.

I once had a back molar out that was on top of a main nerve that should have been somewhere else and it was pure agony even to breathe but it was ok after a few days. would be wary of taking ibuprofen as it can thin your blood but might be ok after 6 days but check with chemist.

Just had a brainwave, try camomile tea or tablets from health store as they work for kids teething and teeth in general also relax you a bit too.
