Wisdom tooth extraction and healing process?

Recently on 25 Sep 06, i went for a wisdom tooth extraction (bottom left tooth). After 1 or 2 hours, my cheek swell and turns blue black and the pain is excruciating. I could not eat for the next 4 days as i keep biting on the gum. I went back to remove the sticthes and immediately i can bite without hitting the gum. I suspect the stitches was not done properly. But another thing that puzzles me is that now is already 11 days after the dental surgery, i am still having blood in my mouth every morning and i have to spit it out. Worst, the blue black on my cheek turns yellow and this yellow patch is spreading from my cheek to my neck and now to my entire throat and this yellow patch is spreading day by day. I went back to the dentist but she said that although it is not common but it should be fine. Can anyone advice me what should I do and who should I consult?

Wisdom tooth extraction and healing process?
I had a hell of a time with my wisdom teeth extractions too. Your bruising is just fading and spreading- it's not getting worse. When a bruise heals it turns that yellow color and bruising will naturally move lower on your body. Just like if you ever get a bad injury on your leg, sometimes bruising will move into your foot as it heals. Your stiches were probably fine, but it sounds like you had a lot of swelling. That means it would have swollen up around your stiches too.

My entire face and jaws were very painful for about 2.5 weeks after my surgery. It was no fun.

Try doing warm saltwater rinses several times a day. Also, make sure you are using the little syringe thing they gave you to clean out your socket. The hole is pretty deep and food can get down in there and this will hinder the healing process. Small bits of stuff will keep the site inflamed and make it very difficult to heal. Once I made sure my sockets were staying really clean all my bleeding stopped and the pain lessened significantly.

Good luck.
Reply:Wow. Find another dentist immediately!! The one you have sucks.
Reply:I just had mine extracted too. I'm totally heal after the 3rd day. Looking at your conditions I think you better go back to your dentist. Its serious. Ouch!
Reply:ughh I feel bad for you, there's nothing like tooth pain! I'm in the middle of a root canal and I wish I had mine yanked. What the heck did the DDS do to you? Was it where they had to dig the tooth out or they just pulled it? You said stitches so it sounds like they had to dig it out, impacted. That's common for the bruises and they take time to fade. The blood is common in the mouth like that for 2-3 weeks. If you wanted to do a consult, you should see an oral surgeon just to make sure there isn't going to be any infection problems.
Reply:The bruising is normal even when it turns yellow, but as for your teeth, you might have "dry socket" or something could have gotten stuck in the "hole". If it doesn't start feeling better I would go somewhere else.
