Is tooth extraction necessary before putting braces?

Hi! I’m Queen. My cousins had their braces years ago and had their tooth extraction. I have my braces on for almost 2 weeks, but I am still confused why my dentist didn’t extract any tooth. Is it ok?

Is tooth extraction necessary before putting braces?
It is not always necessary to remove teeth when doing fixed orthodontic work.

It really depends what you are trying to correct, if you have teeth removed usually this means that you are crowded (too many teeth) and they are making space to straighten teeth. If you have the space but your teeth are not straight then there is no need to remove teeth.

There are also some orthodontist who don't like removing teeth at all to do the work.

But if you are truly concerned and are not seeing the results you want then chat to your orthodontist and tell them you concerns.

Hope all goes well.

it just depends on how big your teeth are and how much space you have in your mouth. if you have little teeth you won't need any pulled. i had 4 pre-molars pulled and then later my braces were off i had to have 4 wisdom teeth taken out. (i have huge horse teeth :))

trust your ortho--mine made my teeth prfect in under 2 years
Reply:It depends on how old you are and if they are crowding. If you older they may pull your molars. I wouldn't worry about it.
Reply:If they aren't' baby ones, teeth have to be extracted only if necessary. If you haven't had any extraction it's just because you don't need it, but some teeth, for example the wisdom ones, could be extracted while having the brace.
Reply:I think you should be happy as no teeth were extracted. As this intereferes with the facial appreances.I had several teeth pulled out and the results am gradually seeing are not pleasing at all!I was better before the treatment started.am not a doctor just a patient like u.
