I have got to have my tooth out on Thursday. I Do have very nice teeth by the way and look after them well, but when i was pregnant with my last Daughter it all went a bit wrong!!!
My dentist took one out about a year ago as it was giving me real bad pain and i could not have an xray as i was pregnant.
I thought he was going to pull my head off!!!
The nurse even held my head!!!
Is this normal as i could feel everything at the time.?
I have now split one in half and i have to have it out as the dentist can't repair it. Has anyone else had teeth do strange things during pregnancy.
P.s I have changed my dentist since the head pulling off episode!!!!
Tooth extraction?
I think your teeth are particularly vulnerable when you are pregnant. I got 2 wisdom teeth at 21 with my first child, and 2 more at 23 with my second child. I was in agony!
Listen, i know you have had a bad experience with that one dentist, but they are not all the same. If you don't have the tooth extracted it may decay and you can get abcesses. You would be in tremendous pain then. Go and have it done, it can't be any more painful than childbirth! Think of it that way.
It will be over before you know it. If you don't have it done you might end up wanting to pull your own head off. lol

Reply:Sorry- it is really painful. you go to the doctor and consult first and then take the decision.

Reply:Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause havoc with the hard and soft tissues in the mouth. Thats why we always stress that you should get all necessary teeth addressed and checked b4 any woman falls pregnant, to save any hassle during pregnancy :)
Reply:Pregnancy does in fact make your mouth more susceptible to bacteria and edema when injured. BUT more importantly....I would be very careful with tooth extractions(pregnant or not), all you need to do is google " bone cavitation".The dental community is finding that at least 70 % of ALL extractions are sloppy, with many dentist and oral surgeons leaving debris in the jaw bone. SO-Unless the doctor did a serious clean out of your tooth socket with a drill-he probably left your periodontal ligament in tack (or at least partially) or other debris- which will cause the bone and gums to seal up and fester. I just had 2 surgeries (so far) last year after having mild tenderness for 16 years.........my oral surgeon left so much debris in there, I now have "chronic osteomyelitis". To boot-It was very hard to find (many thought I was nutzzz). The Dr. had the nice office-- in an affluent area AND NO SKILLS!!!! Your Dr. sounds like a hack too. Many years from now you could feel the effects of this dentist bad training. Educate your self and you will find that dozens of REAL issues have come before insurance companies and the ADA and the have run the other way. I mean for gods sake...they are still putting toxic metals inside mouths, because its CHEAP.Yet if you have a filling removed and ask your dentist if you can take it home (say for a souvenir) he"ll tell you that it has to be handled as "Hazardous Waste" No really- call or ask ANY dentist. Its frightening what you find when you dig. By the way, the reason dentist WONT fill or replace a cavity/filling while pregnant is the potential for heavy metal exposure to the fetus and the risk of infection in your blood stream...as in the same blood stream the metal seeps into. You may email me if you need any more info.
