So the situation is this:
I was born with a cleft palate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleft_lip_a... (Just the cleft palate, not cleft lip.) , so my teeth did not grow in properly due to this issue. So I have two teeth that are right behind my front teeth, and it causes my tongue to hit them, which in turn causes me to sometimes lisp, or not prounounce my words correctly. (Which I hate!)
It is important that I extract then asap, so they won't cause more problems on my speech.
About how much would getting 2 teeth extracted cost? ( I'm in Edmonton, if that matters at all.) (I realize it's about $50-$100 for x-rays alone.)
I am planning to go to the dentist this evening to make an appointment, I'd just like some feedback so I'm prepared for the cost before I go.
Thanks a alot people. :)
Tooth extraction:?
Instead of assuming you'll need them extracted, wait until you have the consultation appointment with the dentist. He/she may suggest you see an orthodontist for an eval to see if they can help put those 'misguided' teeth in their place.
Best of luck!
:)
Reply:These teeth should not be extracted as it is not advisable to do so in cleft cases. It will be better to have braces and align the teeth. In cleft cases, the top arch is very narrow and removing teeth makes it worse.
