Tooth extraction?

I'm off to the dentist wednesday to have a couple of broken teeth removed, how does the surgeon remove them? They are completely broken off and i'm wondering how he's going to get them out?

Tooth extraction?
you need to stop worrying as this does not make it any easier

they have special tools that can grab the tiny little tooth that's left in the gum

i am speaking from experience as i had 7 to get out as i am petrified of the dentist and now i know its best to go and get the problem sorted as they don't go away

you will be fine
Reply:he may have to cut the gum to pull what's left of the teeth out.Dont worry,he will give you a local anaesthetic to numb the are so you wont feel any pain.
Reply:OUCH best not to know, you wont feel a thing if you have a jab but make sure you got plenty of co-codomol for when it wears off
Reply:Probably dig around the edge to loosen what's left then remove the roots , it will be numbed so you'll just feel him poking and prodding. There's no gentle way to put it,sorry.
Reply:I don't know exactly how yours will be done, but when I had my top wisdom teeth removed the dentist just yanked those bad boys out. He numbed me up, of course, but I was awake the whole time. It didn't hurt when he did it, but later that night I felt the pain. Wasn't too bad, just felt sore. I kept thinking about how he just literally pulled my teeth out from my jaw. That was the troubling part for me, seemed like a type of cruel and unusual punishment.
Reply:Extractions are usually straightforward and painless (and soon over). Close your eyes and think of England.

You should be given a list of instructions of what to do in the day or so following the visit. Read these carefully!
Reply:When i had 4 perfectly healthy teeth out for braces they used local athentic whatever it is. No joke he use like a wrench thing it didnt hurt as i could feel it. My teeth were over crowded
Reply:If they are completely broken usually an oral surgeon who specializes in this should do it. In Ireland a general dentist would not do these extractions but i haven't seen the case either
